Natural Remedies for Athlete's Foot

Athlete's foot is a red, cracked, itchy rash that often begins between the toes and spreads to other parts of the feet.  Anti-fungal herbs and essential oils are common natural remedies for this tenacious fungus.

Natural Remedies for Athlete's Foot - Calendula Foot Soak

Calendula is one of the best natural remedies for athlete's foot.  This herb fights fungus and encourages the healing of the skin.  It's also one of the most relaxing natural remedies for athlete's foot and can be used as a preventative measure against the fungus.

Ingredients:

2 cups boiling water
4 tablespoons dried calendula flowers
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Directions:
Pour the boiling water over the dried calendula flowers.
Cover and allow the mixture to steep until it reaches room temperature.
Strain and pour into a foot bath or other container large enough to soak your feet in.
Submerge your feet in the calendula tea and add the apple cider vinegar.
Soak your feet twice per day until athlete's foot has cleared or once a week as a preventative.

Natural Remedies for Athlete's Foot - Aloe Foot Spray

This foot spray is one of the easiest natural remedies for athlete's foot.  It's so effective because the tea tree essential oil combats the fungus while the aloe vera soothes the irritated and itchy skin.

Ingredients:
4 ounces aloe vera juice
1/2 teaspoons tea tree essential oil
1 spray bottle

Directions:
Combine the aloe vera juice and tea tree essential oil in the spray bottle.
Shake well and spray on to the feet twice per day.
Let your feet air dry before putting on socks or shoes.

Continue using this solution for one month, even after all symptoms have disappeared to ensure that the fungus is completely gone and it does not return.  In addition to being one of the best natural remedies, this spray is also a wonderful preventative.

Natural Remedies for Athlete's Foot - Garlic Foot Bath

Garlic water will cure a fungal infection, such as athlete's foot.  In fact, it's one of the most potent natural remedies for the condition.  The hot water helps soften the outer layers of skin so the active compounds in the garlic can penetrate the full depth of the infection.  The milk irritation also draws circulation to the feet, enhancing the local immunity.

Ingredients:
2 whole garlic bulbs, unpeeled
1 quart hot water

Directions:
Blend the two garlic bulbs in a blender.
Add to the quart of hot water.
Fill a small tub with enough hot water to cover your feet and add the garlic mixture.
Soak the feet for twenty minutes once per day in the evening.
Towel dry the feet briskly after the soak to remove any dead skin and dry the feet.
